Family Volley: I Have Been Keeping A Secret

For the last few weeks I have been keeping a secret. It has been really hard not to say something. But today, I can finally fill you in. You might want to sit down for this :).

A little over a year ago I found Listen to Your Mother (LTYM).

LTYM is a national series of live readings by local writers in celebration of Mother's Day. Each Listen to Your Mother show is locally produced and directed.?

I have been a mother for over 10 years. It has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my entire life. It has defined who I am. ?Just like all of you, I have stories of motherhood to tell. I have feelings and understandings to talk about.

The mission of each Listen to Your Mother production is to take the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering. LTYM gives the good, the bad, and the ugly of motherhood, a voice.

It is a magical night where women come together to share stories and share a stage.

The most exciting part, I will be the Producer/Director of Listen to Your Mother, Northern Utah. Coming Mother's Day 2013. I am humbled, grateful, excited, nervous, and overwhelmed.

Yep, we are bringing this national event right here to Utah and you are all invited. I couldn't be more excited!

There will be lots more details to come, but now that the official announcement has been made, we can start talking about this exciting event.

Producing and directing a night that celebrates Motherhood? What could be better?

The launch video went live today. Take a look. Feel free to share the excitement with your friends. Especially if you, or they, live in Utah. I would love to meet all of you at the auditions, and the event.

Here are a few facts, just to clear things up.

You do not have to be a mother to participate. You can write about your mother, another mother, a grandmother, even single-fatherhood. As long as it's your authentic story and a tribute to mothering.

You do not have to be a professional actor or writer. Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours.

LTYM is not open mic. Each Listen to Your Mother is auditioned, directed, produced and rehearsed with professional production values, creating a well-crafted and memorable theatrical experience.

Do you want to read in the LTYM Utah production? Of course you do! Audition details will be announced late Winter-early Spring 2013. And there will be plenty of information coming soon to our individual city page.

What an exciting journey the next few months will be.
